Colm Burke
WHILE this week’s elections no doubt brought much heartache to the European candidates who failed to secure seats in Brussels, some may take solace in the fact that the odds are already on that they will secure seats in the next Dáil.
Despite saying that he is not planning on contesting the upcoming General Elections, Paddy Power is offering odds of 2/1 on Colm Burke being elected to the next Dáil.
Just behind Colm is Kathy Sinnott at 3/1 and sitting Senator Dan Boyle at 5/1.
Assuming her father Martin stands down, Sinn Fein’s Toireasa Ferris is odds-on at 1/3.

SPEAKING from the count centre for the European elections at Neptune Stadium in Cork, Sinn Féin candidate Toiréasa Ferris, thanked voters, activists and supporters who she said “made this such a vibrant campaign”.
Cllr Ferris said, “From my heart I wish thank all those thousands of people who voted for me and of course the activists and supporters who helped make this such a vibrant campaign”.
She added, “I campaigned from the start on the issue of jobs and the need for the Government to abandon its disastrous policies and take the question of job creation seriously.

EUROPEAN election candidate, Cllr Toireasa Ferris has criticised the Labour Party’s new economic proposals describing them as “disappointingly vague and aspirational.”
Speaking today, the Sinn Féin candidate said that to get Ireland back to work the country needs clear commitments to create mechanisms where the state can invest in and drive job growth not aspirations.
