The Minister of State for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock, TD, today officially launched the Professional Diploma in Mathematics for Teaching, which is aimed at ‘out-of-field’ teachers of maths.
MINISTER for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock TD, has announced Government funding via the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation of over €6.5million covering 58 research awards.
The investment is being made as part of Science Foundation Ireland’s Technology Innovation Development Award (TIDA) programme and will enable SFI-funded research groups to focus on the first steps of an applied research project which may have a commercial benefit if further developed.
CORK East Labour Party TD Seán Sherlock has said that for the first time ever he believes his party has a real chance of taking two seats in the Cork East Constituency.
Deputy Sherlock said, “I look forward to hitting the campaign trail with running mate, Cobh-based County Councillor John Mulvihill, who was given the backing of Labour Party members from across the Cork East constituency, at the party’s recent selection convention held at the Midleton Park Hotel.
FOLLOWING a vote today, at the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee to reject the Ombudsman’s report on the Lost at Sea scheme, Labour’s Sean Sherlock has described Fianna Fáil’s approach to the matter as “absolutely shameful”.
Deputy Sherlock said, “The Labour Party voted for this report, because we believe that the independence of the Ombudsman’s office must be upheld. The concept of independence however, is foreign to Fianna Fáil, and they seem to believe that it’s perfectly all right to adopt an a-la-carte approach to Obmbudsman’s reports, accepting those that they are happy with, but rejecting those that may highlight some uncomfortable truths.
LABOUR TD Seán Sherlock has welcomed the publication of proposals for a “food harvest” strategy.
“I would like to welcome the publication today of the ‘Food Harvest 2020’ strategy.
“The Irish agri-food sector has huge potential, and any proposals that will help us to unlock that potential should be greeted with open arms.
