O’Flynn confirms he will seek Fianna Fáil Nomination

Cork City Councillor Kenneth O’Flynn has confirmed in a letter to the Fianna Fáil City Comhairle last evening that he will seek nomination to stand as a Fianna Fáil candidate for the next local elections. The outspoken Fianna Fáil councillor said ‘it was a great honour to represent the views of the people of Cork and I will therefore be seeking the nomination for re election to Cork City Council for the North Central Ward.’

O’Flynn who lost the Fianna Fail whip in December 2011 for voting against the Cork City Council budget said he stands over his decision saying it was the right thing to do. [Read more...]

Cork says no to Norris

CORK County Council has dealt what could be a fatal blow to the campaign of David Norris to get the Dublin senator onto the presidential election ballot sheet.

Mr Norris needs the support of four local authorities to gain an official nomination but looks like he may fall one short.

Cork county councillors voted 20-9 against supporting his nomination while seven councillors abstained.
