COUNCILLOR Kenneth O’Flynn has welcomed the moves by Cork City Council Corporate Policy Committee to make changes to the North Blackpool Area Plan 2011.
Recently the council received 16 submissions from residents associations and members of the public and local business people regarding the plan.
Speaking to journalists Cllr O’Flynn said at last Monday’s committee meeting a decision was made to change the mixed purpose zoning at the former Sunbeam and Millfield site and have it re-zoned as a district centre.
“It is believed that Rothbury Estates has secured some very high-end retail giants which will bring a new lease if life to the north side of the city and also service the north county area,” he said.
