Ted Tynan
CORK Workers Party Councillor Ted Tynan has called on Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin to immediately expel the Israeli Ambassador and break off all diplomatic relations with Israel following this morning’s attack by Israeli commandos on the international aid flotilla to Gaza.
There are a number of Irish activists on the convoy including Cork’s Dr Fintan Lane who is on board the Challenger 1 which was one of the vessels attacked this morning.
Cllr Tynan said that while Minister Micheál Martin had visited Palestine recently and had criticised Israel’s treatment of the Palestinian people this was no longer enough and it was now time to isolate Israel as the “pariah state that it is” following its attack on a humanitarian aid convoy.

Minister Martin said, “I would ask staff in the Passport Service to resume normal working procedures in the passport office. I am greatly concerned at the effects that the ongoing Industrial Action is having on the Irish public.
“Discussions are underway to resolve the current dispute. Continuation of this action will only have the effect of inflicting pain on Irish people who have plans to travel for personal or business reasons. The place to solve this dispute is through the Talks Process, not by inconveniencing people and putting them to extra cost.
