MINISTER of State for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People Kathleen Lynch has announced a commitment of over €1.1 million in additional funding to 36 positive action projects across Ireland, which are working to increase women’s participation in the labour market and the broader economy under the ESF funded Equality for Women Measure.

MINISTER of State with responsibility for Mental Health, Kathleen Lynch will once again lead the Cork “Darkness into Light Walk” organised by Pieta House this Saturday 12th May.
Pieta House was set up in 2006 and was the first centre in Ireland to specialise in the prevention of self-harm and suicide.

MINISTER of State, Kathleen Lynch TD welcomed news that Apple is to create an additional 500 jobs in its Cork plant.
“The creation of these new jobs is great news for Cork. Adding to the 2,800 people currently working in Apple, this announcement is a real vote of confidence in the plant, and reiterates Apple’s commitment to the local area.
MINISTER of State with responsibility for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People, Ms. Kathleen Lynch, T.D., today Wednesday 18 April 2012, addressed an awards ceremony in Mayo Abbey, Co. Mayo.
The awards were being made to women who had successfully completed a ‘Revival Skills training and support programme’ which was funded by the Equality for Women Measure and the European Social Fund.

LABOUR Minister of State Kathleen Lynch has welcomed the announcement of a five year school building and renovation programme. The investment will cater for the increase of 70,000 in our pupil numbers which is forecast over the coming years and will cost €1.5 Billion. There are 275 projects in total, 157 of which are new schools and the remainder, 114, are renovations to existing schools.

CORK TD KATHLEEN LYNCH TD has described the loss of 200 jobs at Blizzard Entertainment as “very disappointing”.
“The announcement that there are to be 200 redundancies at Blizzard Entertainment on Cork’s north side is very disappointing, and my thoughts today are with those workers whose future is uncertain.
“While the company will continue to be a very significant employer in the area, this news is a blow nonetheless.
Results of a specialised diabetes retinopathy screening initiative in Cork will be published by Minister Kathleen Lynch, TD, Minister of State, Department of Health today, 27th January 2012.
Diabetic retinopathy is a serious complication of Diabetes which if left untreated can lead to blindness. There are approximately 25,000 people in the Cork and Kerry region who have diabetes. It is estimated that approximately 10% of this group will be diagnosed with diabetic eye disease throughout their life. Blindness due to diabetic retinopathy accounted for more than 10% of new registrations amongst working adults (16-64 years) in 2003 which indicates the economic and social impact of this disease. However, retinopathy is a treatable complication if there is early detection through screening and timely treatment in the event of the development of diabetic eye disease.
