FIANNA Fáil Finance Spokesperson Michael McGrath has said the Government’s decision to extend the Eligible Liabilities Guarantee for banks highlights yet again the utter hypocrisy of Fine Gael and Labour in Government.

Deputy McGrath said, “The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan’s announcement that the Government has decided to extend Eligible Liabilities Guarantee (ELG) for twelve months to 31 December 2012 is a classic example of Fine Gael and Labour saying one thing in opposition and doing a different thing in Government.

Time to seriously consider daylight extension

FINE Gael Cork East TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Justice Committee, David Stanton has said that it’s time for us to seriously consider altering our current summertime arrangements to benefit the economy and society.  Deputy Stanton made his comments during a Topical Issues debate in the Dáil.

Scoil Niocláis extension goes to tender

newmodel4THE planned extension of Scoil Niocláis National School in Frankfield has proceeded to the tender stage, according to local TD Michael McGrath, who has warmly welcomed the news.

Deputy McGrath has stated that the construction of the extension to the primary school will go ahead as soon as the building contractor is appointed following the tender process. Deputy McGrath confirmed that the Department of Education has published the tender documents for the construction contract with a deadline of March 2ndfor submissions by contractors.

“This is great news for the local community in Frankfield. In 2004, a 16-classroom school was completed to accommodate student numbers in the school at that time. Since then, enrolments have continued to expand rapidly and additional classes have been accommodated in temporary prefabricated units on the site.

Clon school extension opens

THE Minister for Education, Batt O’Keeffe today opened a €130,000 extension in Scoil Mhuire Cillmin, Clonakilty, Co Cork.

The extension includes a new classroom, office facilities and resource room.

“The project will facilitate the delivery of a wider range of subjects and an expanded curriculum, complementing the school’s involvement in extra-curricular activities such as music, cooking and drama,” said Minister O’Keeffe on a visit to the school.

LABOUR Party Senator for Cork South-West, Senator Michael McCarthy, has called on the Minister Martin Manseragh to immediately sanction funding through his Department so that the much-needed extension to Kinsale Community School can go ahead.
