From Cork City Council
AS the supply of mains water to the city and its environs has returned to normal, City Manager Joe Gavin has formally declared an end to the civic emergency caused by the recent unprecedented flooding in the city.
Minor repairs and adjustments to the Water Network will continue over the coming days but disruptions to supply will be kept at an absolute minimum.

Areas supplied by Lee Road Waterworks continue to experience supply disruption. The plant at Lee Road Waterworks has been accessed and damage is currently being assessed.

The following is the current information resulting from the recent flooding as at 18.00 hrs on Sunday 22st November 2009.
Water Supplies
Areas supplied by Lee Road Waterworks continue to experience supply disruption. Cork City Council Staff have been working on the network to maximise delivery and have succeeded in stabilizing supply to the Central Island and lower Blackpool, enabling businesses and shops to continue trading in these areas.

THE Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dara Murphy today congratulated the staff of Cork City Council and the emergency services for their actions in the current civic emergency, and welcomed the decision of the unions involved in the proposed public service strike on Tuesday to defer their action.
“It’s great to witness such great community spirit in Cork,” he said.
