Apple investment is major vote of confidence

CORK North Central Fianna Fáil TD Billy Kelleher has described today’s announcement by Apple as “a significant investment and vote of confidence in Cork and the Irish economy.”

Apple is to create over 500 jobs with the support of the IDA and the local authorities in Cork.

Deputy Kelleher said, “Apple has been a huge part of the business and economic landscape of Cork for 30 years.  It has grown its European Headquarters consistently and Apple’s confidence in Ireland and support for Cork is extremely important.

FINE Gael TD for Cork North Central, Dara Murphy, has today (Friday) welcomed the announcement that Apple is to expand its operations in Cork city, with the creation of 500 new jobs over the next 18 months. Deputy Murphy added that the announcement would offer a considerable boost to graduates and jobseekers struggling to find work locally.

“I was delighted to get confirmation this morning that Apple is expanding its operations in Cork city, to cater for its business in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. Its workforce will grow to 3,300 once the expansion is complete next year.
