LABOUR Party TD for Cork South Central Ciarán Lynch has welcomed the resolution of the Vita Cortex dispute.
“I welcome the announcement that an agreement has been reached by the former workers at Vita Cortex and the company.
“While it is regrettable that it has taken 139 days for this to be resolved, I must commend and congratulate the 32 workers who have given a total of 847 years to the company for sustaining their campaign to be treated with fairness and respect.
“The campaign, which captured the public imagination across the nation, has been an inspiration, not just to workers, but also to those who seek fair play.
“While the campaign looks to have been concluded, in its aftermath there needs to be an extensive examination as to how companies who plead an inability to pay claims redundancy payments are dealt with in the future,” he said.
