Apple investment is major vote of confidence

BIlly Kelleher

CORK North Central Fianna Fáil TD Billy Kelleher has described today’s announcement by Apple as “a significant investment and vote of confidence in Cork and the Irish economy.”

Apple is to create over 500 jobs with the support of the IDA and the local authorities in Cork.

Deputy Kelleher said, “Apple has been a huge part of the business and economic landscape of Cork for 30 years.  It has grown its European Headquarters consistently and Apple’s confidence in Ireland and support for Cork is extremely important.

“Apple is a strategic client of the IDA and work has been ongoing for many years to ensure Apple’s future in Ireland.  I have no doubt that in light of the significant work undertaken by Cork City and County Councils, the IDA and successive governments that Apple’s future in Ireland is secure for the future.

“Ireland is continuing to punch above its weight in attracting international investment but the real challenge this year and in the years ahead for all political parties will be to bring forward measures that will allow the domestic economy to thrive and job creation in home-grown businesses to increase.”
