MINISTER of State, Kathleen Lynch TD welcomed news that Apple is to create an additional 500 jobs in its Cork plant.
“The creation of these new jobs is great news for Cork. Adding to the 2,800 people currently working in Apple, this announcement is a real vote of confidence in the plant, and reiterates Apple’s commitment to the local area.
“This announcement continues the strong trend of foreign direct investment expanding in Ireland, most recently seen with Eli Lilly’s expansion also here in Cork.
“As outlined in the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, the Government is actively working on cutting red tape to make it easier for IT multinationals to trade in Ireland, Apple’s announcement is proof that the Government’s message is getting out to the wider international business community.
“I will continue to work closely with my cabinet colleagues to ensure that measures outlined in both the Government’s Pathways to Work and Action Plan for Jobs, can ensure that even more job announcements like this, can come on stream, and get as many people back to work as soon as possible.”
