SPEAKING following the announcement of 485 IDA supported jobs to be created nationally, Fine Gael Cork South Central Deputy, Jerry Buttimer, said an additional 30 jobs at Big Fish Games in Mahon, Cork city will act as a welcome boost for the region.
“Big Fish Games have gone from strength to strength in Cork in the last number of years, reflecting the growth of the gaming industry generally in Ireland.
“The online gaming sector has been growing steadily and Big Fish Games’ decision to make its Mahon branch its European HQ in 2009 was in recognition of our youthful, energetic and highly educated workforce.
“The Government has been making every effort to restore our damaged reputation internationally and to ensure that the rest of the world knows that we are very much open for business. This announcement shows that that message is getting through.
“We must continue to focus ensuring that our graduates are equipped to take up these highly skilled jobs when they come and that our unemployed are retrained and ready to get back to work.”
