TRADE Minister and Cork TD Billy Kelleher today launched the Irish Russia Business Association whose aim is to promote greater economic, business and cultural ties between Ireland and Russia.
Speaking at the launch Minister Kelleher said, “Today’s launch is very timely as it happens so close to my visit to Russia next week where I will lead the largest Irish trade delegation to Russia in over a decade. This is a clear demonstration of Irish business interest in Russia, Europe’s largest emerging market”.
“The Irish companies who are taking part the trade mission represent a wide cross-section of the Irish economy. However, they share one thing in common – all of them see Russia as a key element of their future export strategy, through direct sales, partnering with Russian companies or through undertaking joint research and development work with Russian counterparts”.
Minister Kelleher said that Russia offers Irish business considerable scope for growth in areas such as ICT, life sciences, construction and building services, food, education and training, aviation and aerospace and financial services.
He concluded, “I would like to assure the Irish Russian Business Association of the Irish Government’s full support in developing trade and technology links between Ireland and Russia. This initiative, organised with the help of the Irish Exporters Association, will, I believe, be a major development in enhancing relationships
