Cork City Council continues to restore mains water supply to households affected by the consequences of the recent flooding event in Cork city.
The majority of affected households north of the River Lee – North Channel have had their supply restored, however there are some areas still affected on which work is continuing to restore supply. It is expected that the majority of households in these areas will be reconnected by Tuesday, 1st December 2009.

Kenneth O'Flynn
SITES for one of housing with planning permission and land that is subject to a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) will not be affected by the new windfall tax that is being introduced by the Government, according to Cllr Kenneth O’Flynn.
Councillor O’Flynn moved to reassure people about this after receiving several queries from concerned constituents.
The windfall tax rate of 80 per will apply to the portion of the profit or gain which is attributable to a rezoning, where both the rezoning and sale of the land giving rise to the windfall happened after October 30, 2009.

SOCIALIST Party councillor Mick Barry this morning hit out at weekend reports that the Government are considering cutting dole payments to young people under the age of 23 from €204 per week to €160 per week.
Earlier this year the Government cut the dole for under 20s from €204 per week to €100e per week.

THE Fodder Aid Scheme established by the Government to help farmers whose feed supplies were damaged in the current flooding is now open for applications, confirmed Cork North Central Fianna Fáil TD, Noel O’Flynn.
“The €2 million Fodder Aid Scheme is now open to applications from farmers in County Cork.
“So many farmers have seen their stock and land devastated in the flooding of the past week and funding under this scheme is intended to help those who are most in need.
