Re-count in Bandon Electoral Area

COUNTY

A RE-COUNT is underway in the Bandon Electoral Area.

Earlier today, Fianna Fáil’s Alan Coleman, Fine Gael’s Kevin Murphy and finally Fine Gael’s Veronica Neville secured seats in the area.

However, it is understood that there was only a small difference between Veronica Neville’s votes and Labour’s Gearoid Buckley and a re-count of the votes is now underway.

WORKERS Party candidate Ted Tynan has taken the last seat in the Cork North East Ward. Independent candidate Dave Whyte was eliminated.

Brosnan elected, Coughlan eliminated

CITY

FOLLOWING the fifth count in Cork City’s North East Ward, Fianna Fáil’s Tim Brosnan has been elected with a vote of 1,152.

Sinn Féin’s Pat Coughlan has been eliminated and the North East Ward now goes to its sixth count.

Deputy McGrath and his brother, newly elected councillor, Seamus McGrath admit that maybe they should have consulted on their attire for the day in advance.

Connolly eliminated

FINE Gael’s Derek Connolly has been eliminated in in Cork’s North East Ward on the fourth count.

The count now proceeds to the fifth count.

Kelleher and Murphy elected in North East

CITY

FORMER Lord Mayor, Labour Party councillor John Kelleher has been elected on the third count in Cork North East.

Cllr Kelleher will be joined in the next City Council by Fine Gael’s Dara Murphy who was also elected with a total vote of 1,102.

Walsh eliminated

CITY

GREEN Party candidate Ken Walsh has been eliminated on the second count in Cork North East.

No candidate was elected on the second count.

North East recount abandoned

CITY

Last placed candidate Dave Keating (Socialist) in Cork North East has accepted that there were no significant discrepancies in the first count. The recount will not therefore take place.

As a result Mr Keating has been eliminated on the first count. No candidates were elected on the first count in Cork North East.
