McCarthy and O’Brien elected in North West

Dave McCarthy at the count with his grandson

SITTING independent councillor Dave McCarthy has topped the poll in Cork North West with 1,419 votes and is elected.

He is joined by sitting Sinn Féin councillor Jonathon O’Brien who gained 1,319 votes and is also elected.

Cllr McCarthy is a former Fianna Fáil councillor who left the party in 2007 to become an independent.
